The methodology for creating, implementing and evaluating the quality of educational programs in the field of cultural heritage care for primary education is intended for all those interested in theoretical issues and practical possibilities of preschool and primary education, i.e. the upbringing and education of children from three to eleven years old, in a historical environment. It can also be beneficial, for example, for parents and grandparents who are interested in the forms and course of the formal education of their descendants. However, it should provide inspiring ideas for reflection and methodological support, especially for monument care workers and educators.

The certified methodology Monuments are fun for us 1: Discovering cultural heritage with preschoolers and first-year elementary school students was created as part of the project “The educational role of the National Institute for Cultural Heritage: Education as a key tool for improving the quality of care for the cultural heritage of the Czech Republic” (DF12P01OVV014), which was supported by the Ministry of Culture from the Applied Research and Development Program of National and Cultural Identity (NAKI) in 2012–2015. The National Institute for Cultural Heritage, the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague and the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University in Brno collaborated on the project.

Cyclists Welcome

Every cyclist who comes to the castle and chateau will be warmly welcomed. In cooperation with the Museum of Historical Motorcycles and the local Bečov Botanical Garden, we create ideal conditions for cyclists. Come to Bečov nad Teplou and explore the beauty of the area.

There is a bicycle stand right by the castle and chateau entrance, monitored by a camera system. If you are really worried about your beloved two wheels, you can store them for free in the bicycle depository. The key is available at the cashier.

There is also an electric bike charging station near the entrance. Lockers are ready for you in the visitors’ room.

In case you have an accident or get a puncture on your way here, repair kits are available in the ticket office. We will be happy to lend you our first aid kit to tend to minor injuries. The chateau ticket office also offers maps with trip suggestions, plus you can purchase cycling maps with routes in the Slavkovský les area.

The nearby Museum of Historical Motorcycles and Bicycles has some basic tools you can borrow.

The Bečov Botanical Garden offers cycling campsite accommodation for a small fee to everybody who is charmed by the local nature and decides to stay more than one day.
